The Long Road to 70

I'm a casual World of Warcraft player. I've done the hardcore thing. I've been in a raiding guild. I was on the front lines back when killing Ragneros, Nefarion, and Hakkar meant something. I'm burnt out on PvE, it's no fun. For the most part, elite guilds are filled with people who lack the skills to be elite in REAL LIFE.

I do, however, enjoy PvP very much. I like battlegrounds and I'm excited to set foot in arena. My honor is almost maxed out at 75,000 and I have 100 of every battleground token sitting in my bank. I'm waiting for the arena season 1 gear to become available for purchase via honor and battleground tokens... then I'm gonna walk into Arena season 3 and murder everyone. Fighting a real person is way more fun than fighting some stupid 3D robot.

When I hit 70 what happens then? I'll do battle in the Arena, with a few friends, get a full season 3 set, but I'm not gonna pay money every month to wait for the next expansion; Wrath of the Lich King so I can grind to level 80 off of the same old quests that are dressed up to look different. I JUST pulled level 69 last night. It'll take me another two to three weeks to hit 70... I fucking hate PvE... I only do it to level.

PvE is tired. Once you have World of Warcraft's AI figured out it's an incredibly easy game. I used to entertain myself by fighting mobs four or five levels above me or elite mobs one or two levels above me just to see if I could win (I soloed King Mukla, 51 elite mob, at level 47 by kiting him around the perimeter of the island) ... there are fewer and fewer mobs out there like that.

The rep grind is one of the most ridiculously stupid concepts Blizzard has ever come up with. Video games are supposed to be fun and the rep grind is NOT FUN AT ALL. I have no interest in increasing my reputation with any faction beyond what I have to do with quests to get to level 70.

The thought of going back to raiding is appalling. I have a life. I date. I go out. I play poker. I have fun in the real world. WoW is how I kill time between shit I gotta do... I will not adhere to a raiding schedule...

I think I'm just gonna ride out World of Warcraft until Warhammer Online comes out and jump ship.
