Most Awesome Alterac Valley Game in a long long time
For the past few months I've noticed a pattern in Alterac Valley. Nine times out of ten the horde will get steamrolled. The other one time in ten the horde steamrolles the alliance. On November 29th at roughly 12:10 am this kick ass game of AV was played on the Vindication Battlegroup.
About 15 horde on defense. About 25 horde on offense. About 25 alliance on offence. About 15 alliance on defence. The game was fun as hell. I chose to go D from the start because someone other than me actually said; "hey, where's the D going?" and I thought to myself... do I have an opportunity to go D and not be the only one there or maybe with two other people at best? If so I'm gonna find out! To my deep and utter satisfaction there was more than 3 people on D! There was 5! Enough to mount a meaningful, if not brief defense!
Just before the first wave of Alliance attackers hit we got 2 or 3 more defenders... and to my shock... we actually defended Iceblood Graveyard against the first wave of attackers! We were overrun in the second attack when the alliance is more bunched up... more coordinated... but we turned back AN attack! We didn't just stall them! We set them back a wave... which, more often than not, is the wave that quite literally smashes all the way into our base.
So we move to defend Frostwolf. We stand there bored for a while... and by this time our numbers have grown to 15. 15! Fuck it, we're at 15. Lets go see if we can take back Iceblood Graveyard before it caps witch, again, more often than not is completely unthinkable because usually by the time you res at FW GY 20 Alliance own your lonely ass and now you're in the Relief Hut!
We ride up to Iceblood Graveyard (with one or two to guard FW GY) and crush the alliance defenders. Unfortunately, as we were recapping IB the rest of the Alliance crew showed up from killing Galvinger and owned us... but we almost had it.
For a good portion of the game on D the major fighting took place in the woods south of Tower Point and FW GY... I hadn't experienced that in a long long time and it was huge fun. The terrain seems so crappy but it's actually awesome. You can hide behind huge ass trees and jump each other. There are these drifts and hills that you can hide behind. You can really play some heavy duty gurrilla warfare (the only place I like better that there is east of Balinda directly south of Stonehearth Graveyard... the buildings built into the mountain... too much fun to be had there)... yes I got attacked by a goddamn wolf for accidentally multi-shooting it... but FD for the win.
I saw a group of alliance doing something which I thought was awesome. They had a pally stick his head out from a snow drift and two or three horde would go after him. There were 3 or 4 additional alliance hiding behind the drift and when the horde came to attack the "lone" pally they got wrecked. Fortunately my track humanoids prevented me from being a victim of that trap but I thought it was ingenious
One by one alliance slipped by into FW keep which is inevitable but we killed so many it was hilarious. By the time we realized we were in trouble I thought only 3 or 4 had gotten by but, in actuality, about fifteen had gotten by. We were in deep shit because this is where the whole game usually falls apart in favor of the Alliance. But the 15 defenders hit the alliance in our base really hard from FW GY and caused a lot of casualties. We did it again and got more. We did it again and got more. The graveyard capped for the alliance. We did it again and killed the last remaining defenders. We recapped the thing and BAM! We're good to go again mother fuckers!
DEFENSE!

We head back to FW GY, find it's overrun with Alliance but are able to get it back. For quite some time the battle continued to rage in the woods and drifts between FW GY and Tower point... and eventually, we realize that the reinforcements will reach zero before any objectives are captured. It's a kill race and there's only one way to win a kill race; stay alive and kill your opponent.
Our healers stepped UP! They kept us alive and, although deaths were inevitable the score slowly shifted from like 69 alliance 59 horde to 15 alliance 15 horde... and then things were neck and neck from there.
Slowly but surely, one by one... the scored dropped... until BAM!
Alliance: 0
Horde: 1
Fucking awesome game
