Alterac Valley Strategy Guide - Part Five

Seriously people, what is wrong with you?

The changes to AV in patch 2.3 were, in my opinion, a significant improvement. The principle of the game is the same, there's just an additional dynamic that determines the outcome. No longer do the games last 16 hours. Things should typically last about 30 minutes. With that said, however, that does not change the Horde's unimaginable incompetence within AV on Vindication. We actually did well on Friday and Saturday. By Sunday things evened out and by Monday we were getting our dicks slapped in the dirt (er, snow as it were) as usual.

The principles of AV are, essentially, the same as pre 2.3 with one serious difference that no one has caught on to. The game is now more about capturing objectives and killing your opponents than a race to the other side! YOU CAN WIN AND YOU DON'T HAVE TO COME CLOSE TO VANN! You just have to kill 600 Alliance, capture some bunkers, kill some Balinda's, or any combination thereof and you're good to go!

Why then does the Horde INSIST on tear assign straight to Stonehearth Graveyard, completely unopposed, and dicking around there without an enemy in sight while the Alliance caps the relief hut? This makes no sense! Here are a few helpful tips if you are a Horde side player in AV... particularly in battlegroup Vindication.

1. Defend - Stonehearth Graveyard is not the local strip joint! Iceblood Graveyard is.

The Alliance has a variety of strategies they use. Every one of them involves heading to Iceblood Graveyard (weather before or after they rape Galvinger). You want honorable kills? Sit around in a group at IB GY and wait for the Alliance to roll in one by one and chew them up. Justs end a group of 5-10 people to surgically destroy bunkers and capture graveyards and kill balinda.

2. React - The Horde is far too stupid to be proactive in AV

In any other battleground the Horde simply dominates by being proactive. It's literally amazing to see a group of 10 to 15 Horde work as a team to rip apart the Alliance without mercy. I've seen Horde PUG's take out Alliance pre-mades in EotS, AB, and WSG. Sadly, it is not the case in AV. Be patient! Chill at the bottleneck at Iceblood Graveyard and WAIT! Once you see what they're doing you can spank them all day long... but if you don't WAIT than there will be 40 alliance chillin in our base before we're half way through destroying Stonehearth Bunker.

3. Defend MORE - Empty bunkers can't defend THEMSELVES!

SO frustrating seing a group of 4 or 5 horde rush into a bunker, cap it, and then rush out leaving me behind. So I'm chillin there waiting for the bunker to go down when suddenly I hear the sickening sound of a cheapsot... no problem, wait for the kidney punch TRINKET! Then sadly, the druid or other rogue jumps in and starts raping me too! I die and watch my graveyard timer go down knowing that whatever bunker I was guarding will be LONG re-captured before I'm anywhere near it. Seriously guys, just defend the shit you take. It doesn't matter if it's a bunker or graveyard... just leave 3 or 4 people there to see that the effort you put forth to take it in the first place isn't in vain.

4. Defend MORE and MORE - It takes very little effort to "hearth" back to base.

Yeah, when the alliance line is screwing around Iceblood Graveyard and somehow the East and West Frostwolf towers are under attack that means there's a stealthier there caping them. If he succeeds he just became the alliance MVP by single handedly defeating the Horde because we're to stupid or lazy o hearth home and retake the towers.

Please guys! For the love of god. We dominate in every battleground except AV. Our stupidity is so blatant in AV I can't imagine how we don't see it! Just use your goddamn head!
