I don't consider myself leftist or rightist. I'm pro choice and for gay marriage. I hate taxes and love guns. I don't care for organized religion and I hate environmentalists. I even believe that most illegal drugs should be legalized and regulated.

I'm a libertarian.

Could you date someone who could turn a blind eye to or enter into complicity in the commission of an atrocity? Especially if their participation in the act or apathy concerning it was due to some ruthlessly selfish fat american lifestyle.

I'm not a moral relativist but you've laid out a blanket premise without specifics. This gives you free reign to fold that blanket in whatever way you see fit when someone responds. It's a trap but I'll play your game... it'll make winning much more fun.

While it is a persons responsibility to do what's right it is ALSO a persons responsibility to look out for their own self interests and the interests of those they care about. If Hitler said to me; "Hey Incarna, ignore the fact I'm burning Jews." I would say; "Fuck off dick! I will not stand by and watch this horror!" If Hitler said to me; "Hey Mark, ignore the fact that I'm burning Jews or I'll execute you and your entire family." I don't know what I would say... it's easy to be brave when it's just you who has to pay the price... not so easy when others do. But since I don't know specifically what you're asking I don't necessarily know if this example is applicable.

Your question contains such broad generalizations and an acceptance of statements without support it is really laughable.

Like what? Can I get some specifics here? The fact that you are using such a broad generalization suggests that you're looking for someone who already maintains that it is fact that there exists a "ruthlessly selfish fat American lifestyle." I'm not going to jump to my own conclusion as to what you might mean by this statement, it is your responsibility as the person who asked the question to establish the premise.

My god man! What is wrong with you? Just lay down some specifics as to what SPECIFICALLY you are asking WITHOUT generalizations and anyone can answer your question.

How intellectually cowardly of you... but I'll play.

Saddam Hussein ruled Iraq with an iron fist reminiscent of Joseph Stalin with an Adolf Ichman style. He murdered his own people in mass for no reason other than their political and religious viewpoints differed from his. He tortured men, women, and children... his policies were so horrific that we barely hear about them in our media... here are a few examples;

The wives and daughters of political dissidents were taken into custody and gang raped in front of them by Iraqi authorities.

The children of parents who were considered oppositional to the government were restrained and had live angry scorpions placed on their naked flesh while their parents watched.

Saddam's son Uday routinely had his bodyguard snatch any woman he saw, child, adult, married, or single, off the street, take them back to his private palace and sexually torture them.

A not uncommon form of torture employed by Saddam was to have the prisoners testicles fixed in a vice. Before the testicles were completely crushed a nail was driven through each of them. If the prisoner passed out from pain there was a bucket of cold water on hand to immediately revive them.

These FEW examples REALLY happened to people. They REALLY REALLY ACTUALLY happened to HUMAN BEINGS... and that's a SHORT LIST of the horrors that occurred under Saddam's rule. I turned a blind eye to it for nearly my entire life, as did you, the rest of America, and, sadly, the entire world.

So, the answer is; Yes, I most certainly could, and did, date someone who turned a blind eye to these atrocities... It would have been impossible to find someone who didn't.

As for the ruthlessly selfish fat American lifestyle part... still a bit fuzzy. I've been fairly clear in this post, perhaps you could be good enough to do the same?
