Aries, Exotic Dancer at Blush
As I mentioned in a previous post I live with a woman, Aries, who works as an exotic dancer. I think there may be a number of people out there who might want to know a little bit about what she does so I’ve asked her if she’d care to answer a few questions and provide a few photographs for the blog.
How long have you been dancing and how did you get into the profession?
What’s it like being an exotic dancer?
Aries: It's kind of a surreal experience. Most of the time I walk in there and get treated like a goddess, or one of the most beautiful women in the world. Other times you get customers who will treat you like you're not much higher than a piece of dirt. Those kind of customers get a 7 inch heel in their crotch.
If someone wanted to hit a strip club, where and when would be the most fun?
Aries: The most fun time to be at a strip club is weekday evenings. They are less crowded so you'll have more attention from the girls but you still get the experience of a night life hang out.
If someone wanted to see you dance where and when would be a good time to do it?
How should someone who wants to have a good time at a strip club dress and behave to ensure he has a good time?
Aries: Dress code is not strict where I work. Basically, I'd dress the same way you'd dress as if you were going to a bar with some friends. Maybe wear a little cologne lol... oh and make sure you've brushed your teeth.
What’s the most exciting thing that’s ever happened to you at work?
Aries: My favorite thing at work is meeting celebrities and athletes. They're usually a lot of fun and you can talk to them on a more personal level then if you met them in their atmosphere. When they are at the club it is to hang out, not make an appearance for the publics sake.
Bars and clubs can sometimes get out of hand. Has anything scary ever happened to you at work?
Aries: Nothing that I couldn't handle. You get the guys that get overly drunk, or overly confident that they are gonna take you home. Of course there are fights every now and again, but you have that everywhere.
How do you respond to people who take an unfavorable view of the women in your profession?
Aries: This is something that really bugs me. Most people believe that because I strip that I also turn tricks or do drugs, or that I have some emotional issues that I never dealt with such as abuse/neglect. I, infact, am an educated woman who graduated Pitt with honors, never turned any tricks (I don't need to in order to make money. You just need to know how a man's brain works), nor do I have any major neglect/abuse issues that make me do what I do. I am a normal person who realized the easy/legal way to make a ton of money by not doing very much. Hell, I get to party every day that I work. Plus the schedule is so flexible, and I don't have to worry about using up all my vacation days. I make my own schedule and work when I wanna work. Who in their right mind wouldn't want a job with such perks?
Why do you think some people take a negative view on strip clubs and strippers?
Aries: Well, the media doesn't really help. Plus, I also understand that half the strippers out there do fit into the "stripper cliche". Most of the girls that I know don't. Some do. It is not my place to judge. I know how I want to maintain myself and that's all I worry about.
If a woman wanted to become an exotic dancer do you have any suggestions for her?
Aries: Be confindent in yourself. Take care of your health, body, and mind. Find people that will support you and not put you down because of what you need to do to take care of your business.
What is the best thing about being an exotic dancer?
Aries: Definitely the fast, easy cash flow, the flexiblity in my schedule, and the ridiculous confidence boost it gives you.
